How do you sample plant material?
The best source is the newest growing part of the plant. About a 1-inch by 1-inch material of plant is needed. If able send double amount, such that if needed to retest. Material should be mature and not immature growth. Immature parts will give a different peak distance. It is best to have all plants grown under same conditions; such will give the best results. Controls should also be grown under the same conditions. Results will have a greater accuracy if such conditions are met.
How do I ship samples?
Do I need control samples?
Yes, Controls are required. I can over lay your controls over top samples on reports. I can make an educated guess if you’re not able. Controls cost the same as samples to run. So, include them in payment. It is best to have all plants grown under same conditions; such will give the best results. Controls should also be grown under the same conditions. Results will have a greater accuracy if such conditions are met.
Do you have sample results and how to use in a breeding program?
Yes, this page shows how we use the results in our Heavenly Gardens hybridizing program. Click to see the
hybridizing page.
Are controls needed for Genome size?
Yes, you must include a known control. The species should be a different genome size from the unknown sample, but not to different avoid problems with linearity. The peaks of the unknown sample should not overlap with peaks of standard. C-value given in pg is needed. example 2C= 34.5 pg.
